SPESFEED is an organisation dedicated to the provision of animal nutrition and feeding excellence. We are dedicated to the provision of a professional technical service to livestock producers and the animal feed industry. The company was founded in 1989 in order to serve those segments of the animal feed and livestock industries that require a medium to high degree of technical input but seek to avoid the cost of employing full time professionals. The company has no affiliation to any particular product or supplier. Our client base currently include feed companies, both big and small, premix and ingredient suppliers as well as animal producers.
We consult in a number of areas which include the following:
| The provision of least cost feed formulations diets for pigs, poultry and other classes of livestock. |
| Project management. |
| Advice on the marketing of products in the animal feed, pig and poultry sectors. |
| Training of staff in aspects of pig and poultry nutrition and animal feed formulation. |
| Staff placement in the agri-business sector. |
| The provision of feed formulation software. |
The company is staffed by two experienced nutritionists. Rick Kleyn, the founder of the organisation has an MSc in poultry nutrition from the University of Natal and has subsequently concentrated on poultry nutrition and feeding systems. In addition, he has had experience of the animal feed industry, particularly with regards least cost feed formulation software. Walter Scharlach, who holds an MSc from the University of Pretoria is a full partner of the organisation and he has concentrated on pig nutrition and feeding systems.
